Danao City Hall and the Plaza

This is not actually the whole Danao City plaza. This is just the part near to their City Hall.
People --family, lovers, friends, barkadas, students, youths-- find it a great place in Danao City to tambay-tambay because of it's surroundings. The plaza is more safer than before. Fraternity / gang war faded while City watchers did a regular roving around the place.

About the My Cebu Photos Blog

First of all, sorry for my grammar. I'm trying to make it right and if it is really not, you may correct it. Secondly, sorry for the picture quality. I only have ordinary camera and also I'm not a good camera man or let us say "I'm not a camera man". Well anyway it's not about the quality of the picture and how nice the angle of the object taken. My purpose of having this blog is to give you different or another thoughts, view and idea about the place and it's people in Cebu. I just wanna see if the place --the general Cebu or part of it-- still convincing for you by showing you pictures taken by only a just person like me. This is just another photo blog for Cebu. There are no big differences from the others. Except from the images I think. I show you pictures then it is you who will decide: if the place is ugly or nice; or if it is just that my pictures are ugly... hehe

One thing for sure, all images was taken anywhere within Cebu. It focuses to none. I shoot from places, people, things, festivals, parties, living things, non-living things to the worst thing you can't imagine as long as I have my camera in me and as long as I like to take pictures.
I also accept and display pictures from friends. I will just acknowledge their names.

By the way, I lived in Carmen, Cebu so you don't need to wonder why I have lots of photos taken from Carmen compared to any place in Cebu. Well, this is not my only reason, it's just that I don't have any budget touring around Cebu just to take pictures. Mostly, I am in that place just because I have reason other than just bringing my cute digicam... yeah!

yeah! bling bling men...abz'

About the City of Danao

Danao City is a 2nd class city in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 109,534 people.

Danao City has outgrown itself from being a cradle of corruption and power hungry political dynasties and chaotic anarchy into the next industrial capital of Cebu and the whole southern Philippines.

In 2005, Metro Cebu's definition was expanded to include Danao City in the north and the municipalities of San Fernando and Carcar down south.

Gun industry in Danao
Danao City is well-known for its gun industry. The industry started around 1905-1906. When World War II came, the Danao gunsmiths went underground, joined the guerrilla movement or were inducted into the USAFFE. Their main task was to re-chamber the Japanese Arisaka rifles to fit the US .30 caliber round or to keep the original Japanese rifle in good service.

After the war, there was a lull because of the proliferation of US surplus goods including firearms.

The industry went on, still underground. In the 1960s, the term paltik was given to the homemade (and illegal) guns. In the early 1990s the industry was legalized by the government, with the creation of two organizations of local gunsmiths. The organization now left with proper permit is Workers League of Danao Multi-purpose Cooperative (World MPC), in Dungguan, Danao City.

Carmen Town Plaza at Night near Christmas

First week of December the town of Carmen, Cebu started decorating their plaza.

Many people usually gather every Friday, Saturday and Sunday together with their families, love ones and friends. Carmen plaza is also a good place in meeting text mates, textmates, txtmates and txtm8s (hehe). Before, I don't know now because I seldom go there, there was a free disco located in the center of the plaza every Saturday night. It's for all and it's free. Curfew for youths aging 18 years old below will be at 9:00pm. Well you can beg the officer to extend up to 10:00pm especially if there are special occasions. Safer and more secured than the previous years! There are policemen standing beside the corner of the dance area. Patrol car roving around.

And ohh! when I take these pictures someone came to me, very hospitable... i think an employee assigned to entertain the viewers of the plaza... she talks to me and ask some questions... then I got shy so I went away from her... hehe... sorry maam.

Carmen Town Plaza in the Morning

This is Carmen Town Plaza in the early morning!

This was taken about 2008 December 8, 9:00am in the morning. It's very cloudy and about to rain. Carmen Town plaza still shows its beauty. Many people usually gather every Friday, Saturday and Sunday together with their families, love ones and friends. Carmen plaza is also a good place in meeting text mates, textmates, txtmates and txtm8s (hehe). Before, I don't know now, because I seldom go there, there was a free disco located in the center of the plaza every saturday night. However, be careful dating, urinating, walking or even sitting in the dark places especially where you are far away from many people. There are reports (although few) of robberies in the area.

Carmen Town plaza is well maintained. Plants are sprinkled every morning. Clean and Green.
